An object is in motion when its distance from another object changes
Displacement is a measure of the change in position. It is distance with direction
The speed of an object in the distance the object travels in one unit of time
Instantaneous speed can be described at a given point and time
Average speed is distance covered over a set time period. Takes into account the changes in speed.
Speed = distance/time (m/s)
When an unbalanced force acts on an object in a particular direction, its speed changes in that direction. This change of speed is called an acceleration. The greater the force acting on the object, the greater the acceleration.
acceleration (m/s2) = change in velocity (m/s) / time taken for change (s)
