Waves resonance

Cards (3)

  • Resonance is about matching frequencies. Musical instruments have their own natural frequency at which it vibrates. When you play the instruments at the same frequency that is naturally vibrates then resonance occurs making the instrument sound louder because the sound is being amplified.
  • In the context of waves, when a waves frequency matches the natural frequency of a resonator (something that releases a natural frequency) or system, it causes the amplitude of the wave to increases.
  • u= mass of string/length
    ->wave speed= square.r(tension/u)
