• Humans have 46 chromosomes, 44 autosomes and 2 sex chromosomes
• adenine and thymine go together, guanine and cystosine go together
• the order of bases along the DNA strand is called the genetic code
• individuals have 2 copies of the same gene, one from each parent
• DNA contains genetic information that determines an organism's characteristics.
• The nucleus is the control centre of the cell, containing DNA.
• DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic acid
• DNA determines someone's characteristics
• Homologous chromosomes are identical chromosomes that carry the same genes and has the Centrometre in the middle where the 2 chromatids meet
• Genes are sections of DNA arranged along chromosomes where genetic information is stored.
• On homologous pairs, a particular characteristic is in the same place on both of the chromosome
