    • NEEDLE STICK INJURY
      1. Encourage the wound to bleed, ideally by holding it under running water
      2. Wash the wound using running water and plenty of soap
      3. Do not scrub the wound while you're washing it
      4. Do not suck the wound
      5. Dry the wound and cover it with a waterproof plaster or dressing
      6. Refer for medical attention to reduce the risk of getting an infection
    • Anaphylaxis (or anaphylactic shock)

      A severe allergic reaction that can occur after an insect sting or eating certain foods
    • Back blows for babies under 1 year
      1. Sit down and lay your baby face down along your thigh or forearm, supporting their back and head with your hand
      2. Give up to 5 sharp back blows with the heel of 1 hand in the middle of the back between the shoulder blades
    • Back blows for children over 1 year
      1. Lay a small child face down on your lap as you would a baby
      2. If this isn't possible, support your child in a forward-leaning position and give 5 back blows from behind
    • Go to a hospital accident and emergency (A&E) department for: large burns bigger than the size of the affected person's hand, deep burns of any size that cause white or charred skin, burns on the face, neck, hands, feet, any joints, or genitals, all chemical and electrical burns, any other injuries that need treating, any signs of shock – symptoms include cold, clammy skin, sweating, rapid, shallow breathing, and weakness or dizziness
