  • less voilent ways to solve problems
  • innocent people die
  • brings grief to more people

• Just war theory - a war that is fought for the right reasons and in the right way
• Just war theory conditions

  1. war must be fought for a just cause eg self defence
  2. war declared by authority
  3. if it is believed to bring out good
  4. must be a last resort
  5. reasonable chance of success
  6. no force that is more than nessesary
  7. only targets should be attacked
• Pacifism - war is completely unnaceptable in all situations
• “Blessed are the peace makers for they shall be shown mercy“
• Muslim holy war - struggle against evil called the jihad
• Quran teaches the struggle against evil must start within themselves
• Greater jihad - personal struggle that everyone has - do it right or lean towards temptations
• Lesser jihad - military actions in order to protect society only if nessesary
