  • Birth

  • Last Supper
    • Final meal that Jesus shared with his disciples, the night before his Crucifixion

    3. Maundy Thursday: When Jesus shared the last supper with his disciples, Judas betrayed him, Jesus was arrested at the Garden of Gethsemane
    4. Good Friday: Jesus is crucified, Buried the same evening
    5. Easter Sunday: Jesus rises from the dead
  • Jesus' Temptations
    • The spirit led Jesus into the desert to be tempted by the devil after 40 days and nights without food, Jesus was hungry
    • The devil tempted Jesus to turn stone into bread
    • The second temptation was for Jesus, to throw himself from the highest point of the temple in order for the angels to quote catch him
    • Finally, the devil offered Jesus, all of the kingdoms of the world in return for worshipping him. Jesus replied, "worship the Lord your God, and serve only him."
  • Jesus' Healing
    • Healing the Paralytic: Jesus heals a paralyzed man who is lowered through the roof of a crowded house by his friends. Jesus forgives the man's sins and then heals his body, demonstrating his authority over both the spiritual and physical realms.
    • Healing the Blind Man: Jesus heals a man who has been blind since birth. He spits on the ground, makes mud with his saliva, and applies it to the man's eyes. When the man washes his eyes in the Pool of Siloam, he receives his sight. This healing miracle not only demonstrates Jesus's power over physical ailments but also serves as a metaphor for the spiritual blindness that can be healed by faith in Christ.
  • Jesus' teaching about discipleship + significance for Christians today
    • Self-denial: Jesus taught that discipleship involves self-denial and a willingness to put the needs of others before one's own
    • Cross-bearing: Discipleship also involves a willingness to suffer and sacrifice for the sake of following Jesus
    • Love for God and neighbour: Jesus taught that the greatest commandments are to love God with all one's heart, soul, and mind, and to love one's neighbour as oneself
    • Obedience: Disciples are called to follow Jesus' teachings and example, and to obey his commandments
  • Dietrich Bonhoeffer
    • Costly Grace: Bonhoeffer's concept of "costly grace" emphasised the need for Christians to take up their cross and follow Jesus, even when it is difficult or costly. This teaching continues to challenge Christians to live out their faith with integrity and commitment.
    • The Church and the World: Bonhoeffer's writings on the role of the church in the world emphasised the need for Christians to be actively engaged in social and political issues, and to stand against injustice and oppression.
