  • in 1773 the "Boston Tea Party" took place. this is when American protestors dumped British tea into the Boston Harbour to protest against the high British taxes
  • In 1765, the Stamp Act was passed by Parliament which meant that all legal documents had to be stamped with a tax stamp. This made it difficult for people to get married or buy land.
  • Reasons why the colonists were mad

    • The Proclamation of 1763 which was when the English passed a law to prohibit the colonists from moving west to the Appalachian Mountains

  • in the declaration of independence, it states that all men have been created equal and have certain rights, and that everyone has the right to life, their freedom and to pursue happiness and talks about how the government rules with the will of the people.
