  • what does a risk assessment include?
    1, identifying/recording the hazards and dangers
    2, deciding who could be hurt and how
    3, evaluating risks and deciding on the necessary precautions needed to minimise those risks
    4, recording findings and implementing them
    5, reviewing and updating the assessment if necessary
  • what is a location recce?
    A report completed pre production (after the initial visit) for working at a specific location prior to filming or recording
  • what happens during a location recce?
    1, directions are found on how to get there
    2, check access (barriers or opening times)
    3, identify the positions for lighting and cameras and equipment
    4, assess the health and safety considerations(risk assessment)
    5, check the availability of power/electricity for equipment
    6, work out how to minimise disruption to local people and neighbours eg sound and light
  • what happens when people are working at heights?
    Risk of crew falling (so need to wear harnesses) and possibility of equipment being dropped onto others below
  • what happens when people are working with electricity?
    Cables and wires must be covered and taped down to avoid trip hazards
  • what happens when people are working with heavy equipment?
    Correct handling techniques must be used to prevent back injury, weights must be put on light stands to stop them from falling over and hurting crew members

    People who work in an office (eg digital artists, video editors, script writers) for any length of time
  • what dangers can working with computers cause?
    Can cause RSI issues (repetitive straining)
  • what 4 things must be considered for those working at computers?
    1, adjustable chair height/seating position
    2, shouldnt look at the screen for too long as it can hurt/strain the eyes
    3, should take regular breaks to allow their body to loosen up
    4, should use a keyboard wrist support to reduce the risk of RSI occuring
