“Tools for Monitoring Hydro-meterological Hazards”

Cards (3)

  • Hydrometeorology
    • branch of meteorology and hydrology that studies the transfer of water and energy between the land surface and the lower atmosphere.
    • studies the processes of the hydrological cycle that occur in the atmosphere
  • TOOLS USED FOR MONITORING HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL HAZARDS
    1. Thermometer - Measures the degree of hotness or coldness of a given substance; measures air temperature.
    2. Barometer - measures air pressure; used to measure air temperature whether the weather will be sunny or rainy and the likes.
    3. Anemometer - instrument that measures wind speed and wind pressure; works by counting the number of rotations it made in a given period of time.
  • TOOLS USED FOR MONITORING HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL HAZARDS
    • Wind Vane - one of the oldest meteorological instruments; tool that indicates wind direction.
    • Rain Gauge - measures precipitation such as rain in a given amount of time per unit area; work by catching the falling rain in a funnel-shaped collector.
