    According to failure to function adequately, a person is considered abnormal if they are unable to cope with the demands of everyday life. For example, a person who does not get out of bed and leaves their house. Rosenhan & Seligman identified five criteria for FFA, including maladaptive behaviour, observer discomfort, unpredictability, loss of control, distress & suffering.
