rates of reaction

Cards (4)

  • the rate of a reaction is the speed at which a chemical reaction procceds. the rate of reaction = ( amount of reactant used or product formed/time)
  • the factures that affect the rate of reaction include temperature, surface area, concentration, and the use of a catalyst
  • temperature
the rate of reaction increases if the temperature of the reaction increases. this is because the particales have more kenetic engery so the are able to move faster
  • cocentration
the rate of reaction increases if the concentration of the reactants in a liquid or the pressure of a gas increases. this is because there are more particales in a given area/volume so they are more likey to collide with eachother.
