Introduction to Clippers

• we use diodes along the resistors and capacitors to shape waveforms
• if we want to clip the portion of the wave form we use clippers
• if we want to shift or clamp the dc voltage level we use clampers
• clippers are networks that use diodes to clip a portion of input signal without distorting the remaining part of the waveform
• a clamper is a network constructed of a diode, a resistor, and a capacitor that shifts the waveform to a different dc level without changing the appearance of applied signal
