• even though they are at war they are fighting the weather instead of soldiers
• exposure can mean:

  • exposed to harsh weather
• exposure can mean:

  • being subjected to something inappropriate
• 'iced east winds that knife us'
• weather leaves them disoriented
• soldiers are hopeless against mother nature
• 'our brains ache'
• 'but nothing happens'- ironic and repetition
• power of nature
• effects of conflict
