    • Held in a sack of skin (called the scrotum) outside the body
    • Produce semen which contains millions of sperm each day

    • Has special tissue which can be filled with blood, to make the penis stiff or erect
    • Needs to be erect to transfer sperm cells into the female during intercourse
    • When semen leaves the body of the male it is called ejaculation
    • The foreskin covers the head of the penis and protects it from being scratched
    • In some religions or cultures the foreskin is removed, this is known as circumcision
