Scrooge Is shown ignorance and want and is made to realise the effect his selfishness has on the poor. ’this boy is ignorance, this girl is want’ said by the gbost of Christmas present. the two children are metaphorical for the wealthys ignorance of poverty and the want for the poor wanting food and shelter. Dickens wants to show the reader how the ignorance of the weathly lead to a cycle of poverty and no change in helping the poor. Dickens makes the reader feel bad for the children and so aims to get the wealthy to help them more as they have the power to do so.
