Scrooge is scared of the ghost of Christmas yet to come and begs for a chance to change. He tries to convince the ghost that he has redeemed himself. Scrooge says ‘I am not the man I was’. He is now scared of the consequences if he doesn’t change. Dickens shows the character has redeemed himself as this part of the novel as he begs for a chance to change his attitude. this part of the novel could be an attempt to influence other wealthy people in Victorian England to change their ways as the outcome of not helping others is frightening and sad.
