  made up of a series of glands throughout the body

  release chemicals called hormones into the blood

  these hormones communicate messages to organs in the body to prompt certain responses (flight/flight)
• example of glands and hormones

  adrenal gland - secretes adrenaline - important for fight or flight response

  pancreas - secretes insulin - helps regulate blood glucose

  ovaries - secretes oestrogen and progesterone - important for female reproduction cycle
• ENDOCRINE VS NERVOUS SYSTEM

  both = communication methods in the body

  NS sends messages electrically while ES sends chemical messages in the blood

  NS = shorter process while ES is more long lasting e.g growth hormones
