• electrodes detect small electrical charges resukting from activity of brain cells, When electrical signals from the different electrodes are displayed over a period of time, the resulting representation is called an EEG. It measures amplitude and frequency of different brain waves.  It also looks for synchronisation and desynchronisation patterns.

  - EEG equipment is mobile so participants can be attached to it but still move about and do activities, which is important if they are wearing it for a while.
