EEG's - recordings of the electrical activity of the brain made from electrodes that are attached to various points of the head
EEG's show overall brain activity, and are normally used to detect arrhythmic patterns eg in epilepsy.
Previously, EEG's only had 8 electrodes placed on the scalp but recently more sophisticated use of computers has allowed up to 128 electrodes to be used.
An electroencephalogram (EEG) measures electrical activity by attaching electrodes on the scalp. Small electrical charges are detected by the electrodes that are graphed over a period of time, indicating the level of activity in the brain.
