Cards (4)

  • EEG's - recordings of the electrical activity of the brain made from electrodes that are attached to various points of the head
  • EEG's show overall brain activity, and are normally used to detect arrhythmic patterns eg in epilepsy.
  • Previously, EEG's only had 8 electrodes placed on the scalp but recently more sophisticated use of computers has allowed up to 128 electrodes to be used.
  • An electroencephalogram (EEG) measures electrical activity by attaching electrodes on the scalp. Small electrical charges are detected by the electrodes that are graphed over a period of time, indicating the level of activity in the brain.
