• primary somatosensory areas for stereognosis tactile localization discrimination temperature and proprioception
• somatosensory association cortex recieves from somatosensory area 1 and somatosensory area 2 thalamic nuclei and limbic system and visual system and interpets them
• premotor cortex initiates gross movements and involuntary movements with the basal ganglia and plans movement (posture at start of movement and preparation of movement)
