• Transmission of HIV: Intercourse, blood transfusion, organ transplant or sharing needle with infected person
• Prevention of HIV:

  • Avoid intercourse with many partners
  • Use a condom
  • Don’t come in contact with other people’s blood
• How HIV affects the immune system:

  • Infects and destroys lymphocytes
  • Decreases efficiency of immune system
  • Body becomes liable to infection by other pathogens
