Absence

• Absence (petit mal): present with little or no movement - pt will simply stop; stop talking, waling or playing
• Often in children between 4-12
• Flashing lights or hyperventilation may cause the seizure
• • No motor activity - some experience eye blinking, lip smacking, isolated clonic activity
  • Last several seconds - no postictal period & no confusion
