replicability

Cards (3)

  • Replication is concerned with the ability to repeat an experiment. This can be ensured through a standardised procedure. This allows the reliability of the results to be checked.
  • Methods used such as questionnaires and psychological tests are reliable and they are used in many areas of psychology. For example the BSRI to measure androgyny.
  • However, Ainsworth's strange situation attained different results in non-western cultures and there are problems with case studies being replicated, therefore psychology is not a science.
