  • Na diffuses into axon
  • Axon becomes positive
• Repolarisation:

  • Na+ gates close
  • K+ gates open
  • K+ diffuses out of axon
• Hyperpolarisation:

  • K+ gates open too long
  • Causing potential difference to go below
  • Resting at 70mv
  • Gates Close and k+ and Na+ restores balance pump
