Experimental Methods

    Cards (8)

    • Aim: General statement that describes the purpose of the study
    • Hypothesis: A prediction of the results of an experiment that is tested.
    • Directional Hypothesis: A hypothesis that predicts the direction of the relationship between two variables.
    • Non-directional hypothesis: A hypothesis that does not specify the direction of the relationship between the independent and dependent variables.
    • Independant Variable: The variable that is manipulated by the researcher to determine the effect of the other variable.
    • Dependant Variable: The variable that is measured or changed by the independent variable.
    • Operationalisation: Clearly defining variables so it can be measured accuratley
    • Experimental Method: Involves the manipulation of the IV, in order to discover the effects of the DV
