  • Wundt Introspection
It was in a lab with controlled conditions, standardised instructions which made it replicable but relied of subjective reports from people which is not scientific. He also attempted to reduce complex behaviour ino very simple techniques (reductionist). However he was a forerunner to the cognitive approach which looked at the mind in a scientific way.
  • Introspection
Idiograhic in its nature, so relies on the idea of it being the individual and attempts to extrapolate from their experience.
  • Behaviourism
Nomothetic - disputed psychodynamic's idiograhic approach and suggested that general trends and laws are needed.
