Radio Waves

Cards (9)

  • How are radio waves formed?
Radio waves can be produced by oscillations (in electrical circuits) When radio waves are absorbed by a conductor close conductor. A material which allows charge to move easily through it., they create an alternating current.
  • How are radiowaves used for communication?
Radio waves are used for wireless transmission of sound messages, or information, for communication, as well as for maritime and aircraft navigation.
  • How are X-rays formed?
X-rays are commonly produced in X-ray tubes by accelerating electrons through a potential difference (a voltage drop) and directing them onto a target material (i.e. tungsten).
  • How are gamma rays formed?
Gamma rays originate from the settling process of an excited nucleus of a radionuclide after it undergoes radioactive decay
  • How are gamme rays used for medicine?
Radiation therapy, or radiotherapy, uses high-energy gamma rays to kill cancer cells and shrink tumours.
  • How are X-rays used in medicines?
A medical x-ray produces a picture that can help find broken bones, tumors and foreign objects in the body.
  • How do microwaves form?
Microwaves are produced by special vacuum tubes like the klystron, magnetron, and Gunn diode. The frequency of microwaves is selected to match the resonant frequency of motor wall equals so that the energy is transferred efficiently to the kinetic energy of the molecules.
  • How is infrared radiation produced?
Hot objects glow red and very hot objects glow white hot, because they emit light as well as infrared. The hotter the object, the more electromagnetic radiation it emits and the higher the maximum frequencies. Warm objects, like radiators and human bodies, emit infrared.
  • How are microwaves used for communication?
    Satellites
