    Found that al ethnic minorities continue to have lower earnings than comparable white groups, with large earning differentials experienced by the Black African, Pakistani & Bangladeshi groups. Men from each ethnic minority earn at least 10% less than the comparable White group with Black African, Pakistani & Bangladeshi men experiencing more than a 20% earning deficit. For most women, the differentials were around 5% for most. The earnings deficit was highest for Black African women at 18%.
  • Nation Equality Panel (2010)

    Showed there are considerable differences in median total wealth between different ethnic households. Eg. White British households had the greatest level of wealth in 2006/8, on average £221,000. The group with the least wealth was Bangladeshi households, with only £15,000 total net wealth on average.

    Controlled for differences in occupational class to consider the particular effect of ethnicity on wealth inequality.Their research findings revealed that White British people in managerial occupations had greater wealth than other ethnic groups in the same positions but that White British people in intermediate & non-manual positions had less wealth than Asian or Asian British/Indian groups in these positions.Black or Black British/ Black Caribbean people had considerably lower levels of wealth than other ethnic groups after controlling for occupation.

    Found the Bangladeshi ethnic group experience the significant income inequality & are consistently the worst off. They have the highest poverty rates of all groups & only 25% have incomes that are among the top half of incomes overall.
