Retailers must always act fairly, tell the truth about goods and services, and to never say anything that can mislead the consumer, ex:
Saying a product such as toothpaste is recommended by market-leading dentists when it isn't, giving a false sense of reliability
Describing a car as having one previous owner or a lower mileage when it has had 4 owners or a much higher than stated
Stating that delivery within all areas is free when it's really within a 3 kilometre radius
When a retailer reduces the price of a product and mentions it was sold at a higher price in the past, the product must have been the higher price for 28 consecutive days in the last 3 months.
For example, a tin of beans is now sold at €1, but the price tag mentions it was previously sold at €2. The tin of beans must have been at €2 in the last 3 months, for 28 days in a row.
