The cell cycle is the series of events that occur within a
eukaryotic
cell from its birth to division.
Interphase
is the longest phase of the cell cycle, during which the cell grows and prepares for mitosis.
G1 Phase
- The first gap phase where the cell grows and synthesizes proteins needed for DNA replication.
S
Phase - The second gap phase where DNA replicates.
Cytokinesis
- The final stage of mitosis when the cytoplasm divides to form two new cells.
Mitosis
- The process by which one parent cell divides into two daughter cells.
Mitosis
is the process by which one parent cell divides into two daughter cells.
Meiosis
- A type of cell division that produces four genetically different haploid cells (gametes) from a single diploid cell.
Prophase
- The first stage of mitosis or meiosis, characterized by chromatin condensing into visible chromosomes.
Metaphase
- The third stage of mitosis or meiosis, where chromosomes line up at the equatorial plate.
The stages of mitosis are prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase, and
cytokinesis.
