Domestic Division of Labour

• Bott distinguishes between two types of conjugal roles (roles within marriage):

  > segregated conjugal roles - husband and wife have distinct and separate roles (expressive and instrumental) and have separate leisure activities

  > joint conjugal roles - the couple share housework, both do paid work and spend leisure time together
