Electrocardiogram

• this can be used for diagnosis of cardiovascular disease.
• p wave = time of atrial systole
• QRS complex = time of ventricular systole
• T wave = caused by repolarisation of the ventricles during diastole
• Normal rhythm = 60-100
• bradycardia - less than 60
• tachycardia - more than 100
• sinus arrhythmia = normal beats but triggered at irregular interval
• ventricular fibrillation = irregular ventricular rate
• flat line - no signal - indicated resuscitation is needed or death
