The three met to agree their final plans for defeat of Germany and post-war Britain. WSC was left to confront Stalin alone; RV was ill and didn't believe Stalin needed to be confronted. RV agreed to several Russia's demands in Asia without WSC's knowledge. WSC convinced Stalin to hold free elections in Europe but did not manage to get either leader to guarantee a free Poland or where its borders should be. WSC conceded to Stalin large parts of Poland that he had annexed in 1939, in exchange for a temporary Polish government of national unity. Stalin later broke the promise of free elections.
