Before the conference Roosevelt had died. It was held in Germany with Stalin, Truman and WSC (later replaced by Attlee) attending. WSC was tired, depressed, and noticeably less energetic than previous conferences. WSC and Truman opposed Stalin's demands for reparations. The eventual settlement was a compromise, allowing Stalin to do as he wished in East Germany.
