  using liquid specimen

  • add few drops of sample to slide using pipette
  • cover with coverslip-press gently to remove air bubbles
  • wear gloves- avoid cross contamination

  using solid specimen

  • use scissors or scalpel to cut tissue
  • use forcepts to peel very thin layer of cells and place on slide
  • apply stain- cells visible- eg iodine or toluidine blue
  • gently place cover slip and press to remove air bubbles
