  • Sara (mother) started campaign to enable police to make info on local sex offenders public
  • used news of the world - created petitions and naming and shaming
  • a03 - successful Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme created
• Ann ming - changes to double jeopardy law

  • double jeopardy - offender cannot be trialed twice for same offence
  • Julie hogg (daughter) murdered by partner billy dunlop
  • dunlop charged with murder, appeared in 2 trials but jury failed to reach decision
  • Ann gained support from Northern echo
  • dunlop later confessed (thought he would be protected by double jeopardy law) - became first to be charged with new rule
  • a03 - successful - criminal justice act 2003 brought the new changes
