      • any influence on behaviour which is not genetic eg people, events
      • external factors are responsible
    • Examples:
      • Behaviourism — Behaviourists assume that all behaviour can be learnt via experience. eg classical conditioning learning via association(pavlov)operant conditioning learning via consequences(skinner)
      • SLT- bandura proposed all behaviour is learnt via the observation and immitation of others via vicarious reinforcement(indirect learning) or identification.
    • Interactionist approach
      • the view that the processes of nature and nurture work together rather than in opposition
      • Biological predisposition triggered by an environmental stressor
