  • Pain in periumbilical in lower right quadrant
  • Most intense pain in MC BURNEY'S POINT
  • Referring pain peritoneal irritating
• Pre op in Appendicitis

  1. Monitor bowel sound

  2. Monitor change in pain level

  3. Monitor sign of ruptured of appendix
• Post op Appendicitis


  1. Monitor insertion site for infection

  2. Monitor drainage by side lying and sm fowler's position
• Hirsprung disease


  • Other term is aganglonosis and aganglionic mega colon
  • Absence of ganglion cells
  • Ganglion cells help to contract and eliminate stools
• Treatment for mild and acute hisprung disease

  Severe constipation stool softeners like laxative and enemas
• Severe complication of hisprung

  • Enterocolitis - s/sx fever, severe prostration, GI bleeding and watery diarrhea
• Assess in newborn of hisprung

  • Failure to pass meconium
• Assess in child of hisprung


  • Alternating constipation diarrhea, ribbon like and foul smell
• Imperforate anus


  Absence of anal opening in perineum
• Assessment of Imperforate anus

  • Failure to pass meconium
• Pre op intervention of Imperforate anus

  1. Monitor the anal opening

  2. Monitor the stool in urine and vagina
• Post op intervention of Imperforate anus

  Position the baby in side lying position prone with hips elevated
