China

    Cards (5)

    • China is located in eastern Asia in the Northern hemisphere. China is to the northeast of India and is to the west of Japan. China's east coast borders the Pacific ocean and the South China sea.
    • China has a 9000 mile long coastline with 2034 ports. The eastern part of China is densely populated and more developed than the west because the west is inaccessible and dry.
    • The 'Great Wall of Sand' is a nine-dash-line which creates a protective ring and supply network around Chinese territory in the South China sea.
    • China is a rapidly developing country, becoming increasingly more westernized. The positive impacts of this development include better education and job opportunities, rapid construction, stronger economy (growing from $40 billion to $18.5 trillion: 18% of the world GDP and the 2nd largest economy in the world), improved standard of living and transport systems (such as 16000 miles of high speed rail networks), and a higher life expectancy.
    • Negative impacts of China's development include pollution from factories, environmental damage, more respiratory diseases, overcrowding in cities, loss of traditional culture, corruption, and an increase in inequality between rich and poor.
