Transferring Pathogens

• Direct contact is physically touching an infected person.
• Indirect contact is when a person touches an object that has been touched by an infected individual.
• Transfer of body fluids from one person to another can result in the transmission of a number of pathogens.
• Vectors are animals that transfer pathogens from one host to another.
• Contaminated food and water can cause food poisoning, which can lead to vomiting and diarrhoea.
• Infection from droplets may occur from tiny droplets of moisture containing pathogenic organisms.
