• Pituitary Gland 


  'master gland' - controls the release of all hormones from glands
• Hypothalamus


  releases hormones - controls system regulation - connected to the pituitary gland
• Pituitary Gland - Anterior(front)


  Adrenocortictrophic Hormone (ACTH)

  stimulates adrenal cortex and release of cortisol
• Pituitary Gland - Posterior(back)

  Oxytocin

  responsible for uterus contractions in child birth
• Pineal Gland


  Melatonin - sleep wake cycle
• Thyroid Gland


  Thyroxine - regulates metabolism

  fast = struggle to gain weight
• Adrenal Gland - medulla(inner)

  adrenaline and noradrenaline - fight or flight
• Adrenal Gland - Cortex(outer)

  Cortisol - stimulates glucose release while supressing immune system
• Ovaries (female)


  Oestrogen and progesterone - controls reg of reproductive system
• Testes (male)


  Androgens/Testosterone - sex characteristics during puberty
