Cards (10)

  • o   Newton’s 1st Law of Motion – A body will remain at rest or in uniform motion unless acted upon by a net external force
  • o   Body – an object with mass that is being observed
  • o   Rest – a state of motion in which the object is not moving relative to the observer
  • o   Uniform VelocityConstant velocity, this means constant unchanging speed and constant unchanging direction
  • o   Force – a push or pull exerted by an object
  • o   Net external force – the sum of all the forces acting on a body
  • o   Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion – Force equals to mass times acceleration (F=ma)
  • o   Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion – For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
  • o   Scalar quantities – has magnitude but no direction, examples are temperature, energy, distance, time, weight
  • o   Vector quantities – has magnitude and direction, examples are displacement, force, mass, acceleration
