      A transportation service that moved 100,000's of slaves to freedom. the system was run by many white but mainly black people who built routes for them.

      Europe would supply West Africa with ammunition (guns) and West Africa would send slaves to the Caribbean and they would be traded for sugar, rum, cotton and spices which would sent to Europe
    • what work would the enslaved people do on plantations?
      grow sugar, fieldwork, stock work, nurses, midwives
    • what would the treatment of the enslaved people be like?
      they were whipped if disobedient, in Antigua it was legal to kill slaves, and captured runaways would be hanged or maimed

      they lived in small cottages with thatched roofs, only a bed, table and bench
