Changes with the current and the distance from the wire

A coil of wire
How do you increase the strength of a solenoid?
Putting a block of iron in the centre of the coil
What's an electromagnet? 
A solenoid with an iron core
What's the motor effect? 
When a current-carrying wire os put between magnetic poles and the magnetic field interacts with the magnetic field it has been placed in

Right angles to the magnetic field
