  • Aerodrome
    Any suitable place where aircraft can safely land and take off, ranging from a farmer's paddock and lakes to sophisticated international airports

    Any defined area of land or water intended or designed to be used either wholly or partly for the landing, departure and surface movement of aircraft, and includes any buildings, installations, and equipment on or adjacent to any such area used in conjunction with the aerodrome or its administration

  • Runway

    A defined area symmetrically including the runway and stopway if provided, to reduce the risk of damage to aircraft should it run off the runway and to provide a clean area over which craft can fly during the takeoff and landing
  • The runway is the area used for the actual takeoff and landing and the larger landing strip surrounding the runway provides a safety area
