  • little crows war (1862)
    Little crow moved his tribe onto a reservation, struggled to farm, bad harvest Caused them to starve, white reservation agent refused to give them food and cheated them out Of money. Little crow attacked settlers/ killed 600 and stole food. Us army found little crow, killed him and executed 38 Sioux. Remaining soo us were isolated onto another reservation, thousands died.
  • Sand creek massacre(1864)
    black kettle Agrees to live his cheyenne to a reservation because gold has been found on their land. Harvest was bad began to steal food. You he Cheyenne refused to move onto the reservation and continued to attack white settlers. Colonel Chivington led a raid on black kettles camp at sand creek. Over 150 men, women and children were killed. Black kettle escaped. He spreader the news of the massacre->increased conflict and anger. The us government condemned chivington and promised compensation but it never came.
