• Hortensio asks Gremio to work together to find a suitor for Katherina so Bianca can be free to marry

• Hortensio offers Petruchio a wealthy and beautiful wife (Katherina), warning him of her shrewish behaviour 


  " I can, Petruchio, help thee to a wife with wealth enough, and young and beauteous ... Her only fault, and that is faults enough, is that she is intolerable curst. '' Act 1 scene 2
• Hortensio asks Petruchio to present him as a music teacher (Litio) for Bianca so he can woo her before the other suitors

  '' Offer me disguised in sober robes to old Baptista as a schoolmaster well seen in music, to instruct Bianca... and, unsuspected, court her. '' Act 1 Scene 2
• Hortensio (Litio) gets annoyed at Lucentio (Cambio) for disrupting his music lesson with Bianca

  " You may go walk, and give me leave a while: my lessons make no music in three parts. " Act 3 Scene 1
• Hortensio thinks Bianca is crazy for falling for lower class Cambio, suggests he can have her

  '' Bianca, be so humble to cast thy wandering eyes on every stale, seize thee that list. '' Act 3 Scene 1
• Hortensio gives up on Bianca and says she is unworthy of him

  '' I firmly vow never to woo her more, but do forswear her as one unworthy. '' Act 4 Scene 2
