    these were fines that were out towards paying for the damge caused by the war however were yet to be paid

    because they never saw the agreement and never agreed to sign it so they hoped it was fair, the treaty was forced onto them.

    they were blamed for starting/causing the war when really it was britain who bought it onto them

    lost 13% of land to poland and czechoslovakia, lost 6 million people, troops were to not enter the rhineland, lost 16% coal and 48% iron

    limited to 100,00 men, wasn't allowed planes or tanks, the navy was limited to 6 battleships and 6 cruisers with no submarines

    in 1921 it was settled that they were to pay £6.6 billion in reperations

    because they were bankrupt and had no gold reserves as back up so they could not pay anything

    food shortages so theft became common, many germans lost everything including their savings so they had to sell their houses to live, prices increased rapidly, workers were paid twice a day so they could spend their morning money before it lost its value in the afternoon
