  • Schizophrenia: affects how a person think, feel, and behave. lost in touch with reality
  • Positive symptoms: hallucinations, delusions, disconnection from reality
  • Negative symptoms: inhibition of facial expressions, lack of motivation, difficulty showing emotions
  • Paranoid schizophrenia:
    • has many delusions and hallucinations of hearing, seeing or feeling
    • speech and emotions may not be affected
  • Disorganized schizophrenia:
    • disorganized thoughts and behaviors
    • may experience short-lasting hallucinations and delusions
    • little to no emotions and speak in flat tone
    • disconnected with the society
  • Catatonic Schizophrenia: A type of schizophrenia characterized by a lack of voluntary movement.
    • very active to very still
    • resistance to moving, not talk for time, may mimic other's speech or movement
