  • Quantative:
    • data in the form of numbers that can be counted and is statistically analysable
    • can be objective of subjective depending of how data is collected.
  • Objective data from quantative data collection:
    • data obtained on facts, can be supprted through observation and measurements
    • Examples:
    • Physiological measures(e.g heart rate; breathing rate) changes in emotional stress, physical effors and consciousness
    • Galanic skin response (use in lie detection) changes in electrical conductivity of skin.
  • Subjective data from quantative data collection:
    • responses that ask for a participants opinionsm perspectives or experiences (but not reasons)
    • responses recorded as: checklists, rating scales, likert scales, close-ended questions.
  • Qualitative data:
    • descriptive information in the form of words and is not statistically analysable
    • it is subjective and based on opinions, perspectives and experiences of inderviduals.
    • examples: semi-structured interveiw questions, open-ended surveys, opinions sought in focus groups.
  • mixed methods reaserch:
    • incorporates both quantative and qualative research.
    • finds in this type of research strengtherned as use data of both types
  • Subjective data:
    • based on opinion
  • Objective data:
    • data that can be observed and measured
